Chicka Chicka Boom Boom





This week, our lesson centered around the book entitled Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Our students each received a copy of the book and also a set of Magnetic Letters & Numbers.





Concepts from the book:
-Vocabulary: alphabet, catch, Coconut Tree, everybody, help, stooped, looped, tangled, twisted
-Descriptive Words: tag-along, skinned-knee, patched up
-Basic Math: More, whole, enough
-Family Labels: Mama, Papa, Uncle, Aunt
-Letter Awareness


Concepts from the Magnetic Letters:
-Matching letters
-Matching colors


Activities of the day:
1. Parents + Preschoolers read the book
2. Parents + Preschoolers created Coconut Trees with letters
3. Parents + Preschoolers explored the Magnetic Letters
4. SLPs + Parents discussed strategies to address their child’s speech & language goals in the home, and how to utilize the book and puzzle to enhance these strategies.









Polar Bear Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?


This week, our lesson centered around the book entitled Polar Bear Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?. Our students each received a copy of the book and also a Kitchen Play Set.

-Vocabulary: hear, roaring, snorting, yelping, fluting, braying, hissing, trumpeting, snarling, bellowing, whistling, zookeeper

-Sequencing

-Pretend Play


Activities of the day:
1. Parents + Preschoolers read the book
2. Parents + Preschoolers created a sequencing page with each animal from the story
3. Parents + Preschoolers explored the Kitchen Play Set
4. SLPs + Parents discussed strategies to address their child’s speech & language goals in the home, and how to utilize the book and puzzle to enhance these strategies.







Little Blue Truck's Christmas


This week, our lesson centered around the book entitled Little Blue Truck's Christmas. Our students each received a copy of the book and also a Transportation Reusable Sticker Book.


Concepts from the book:
-Vocabulary: tree, big, short, fat, tall, December, delivery, job,
-Concepts: Counting 1-5
-Pragmatic skills: sharing, giving, friendship

-forms of transportation
-sharing
-fine motor skills

1. Parents + Preschoolers read the book
2. Parents + Preschoolers created reusable felt trees with decorations
3. Parents + Preschoolers explored the sticker book
4. SLPs + Parents discussed strategies to address their child’s speech & language goals in the home, and how to utilize the book and puzzle to enhance these strategies.
