This week, our lesson centered around the book entitled The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Our students each received a copy of the book and also a Fruit Sorting Kit.
Concepts from the book:
-Vocabulary: butterfly, caterpillar, cocoon, leaf, moon, egg, orange, pear, plum, apple, strawberry
-Sequencing days of the week
-Compare small to big
-Discuss nutrition: healthy food vs. junk food
Concepts from the Fruit Sorting Kit:
-sorting food by color
-sorting fruits & vegetables
-pretend play
Activities of the day:
1. Parents + Preschoolers read the book
2. Parents + Preschoolers
3. Parents + Preschoolers explored the Fruit Sorting Kit
4. SLPs + Parents discussed strategies to address
their child’s speech & language goals in the home, and how to utilize the
book and puzzle to enhance these strategies.
